T is for Top Ten Dreams

Okay, this topic is partially subjective to those researching dreams as ten experts can come up with ten different lists. Yet there are some themes that are far more common the majority of dreams. And since this is my blog and my post, I get to choose.

Here they are in alphabetical order:

Being Chased See R is for Running Slowly

Falling or Sinking See F is for Falling

Falling Teeth I’ve never had this dream or knew anyone who did. But evidently it is quite common and signifies confidence and power. Lose your teeth and your’re struggling with confidence and power.

Flying See F is for Flying

Late or Missing a Train I rarely have these dreams but I am a stickler for time.

Lost or Trapped See Q is for Quarantined

Naked See N is for Naked

Out of Control Vehicle You really need to get things back on track.

Pregnant or Babies A very common dream that often signifies you are or just have birthed something incredible and powerful and beautiful in your life. And yes, men can have dreams with babies, already born I’m assuming.

Unprepared for an Exam I’ve had dreams telling me to be prepared and specifically how to prepare. See P is for Prophetic Dream for the flip side of Unprepared for an Exam.

Well that’s my Top Ten list gleaned from many Top Ten lists I’ve looked up. Do you see any of your dreams here?

Honorable Mention Time, Time Travel and Trees

Monday’s Post U is for Universe, Umbilical Cord and Unprepared

Question Do you remember your dreams? What are some of your common dreams?

  1. I had the teeth one for a while. It was disconcerting.

  3. I used to have the running dream all the time. Now they are just Ultra strange like the one today with a red school bus coming out of a cave. I don't usually dream in color.

  4. I recognise most of those dream scenarios from my own dreams over the years, if not all.

  5. I often travel back into the past in my dreams. I remember all the detail of my gran's house where I was born and lived...such detail. My ole dad often visits me in my dreams too

    1. Caz, I hear this often and am really surprised that I did not find it in any Top Ten List.

  7. I have that dream of being unprepared for exams and have had it several times. The theme is always the same: all of the sudden, I realize that I have a big exam and am freaking out because I have forgotten to go to class all semester or I haven't read any of the book and I have hours to devour it in order to be prepared. It's a very uncomfortable dream!
I've also had dreams of broken teeth, or my teeth falling out. That's a scary one too!

  8. I guess I've had most of these dreams at some occasion or another, but more than any in my dreams I am running late or I'm totally unprepared for something and often the two go hand in hand. They usually are long involved dreams that go off into weird tangents that distract me from what I am doing in the first place.

    1. Lee, sounds like the dreams are actually causing the problems rather than mirroring them.

  9. Haven't had too many of these, but I do remember having dreams of not being prepared for work; so maybe that would fit into the unprepared for exams category?

  10. Being unprepared, being chased, and car issues top my list. Or mixed up people- TX and PA folks I know all intermingled.

  11. I think your theme has has its effect on me. Last night I dreamed I was on a bike riding into the wind. That wind was so fierce that no matter how hard I peddled, I stay in the same spot. This must be the cousin to the running slow or in-place dream

    1. Sure is. Running. Biking. Flying. Regardless, you're in slow motion and struggling to move forward.

  12. Blog hopping from North Carolina during the #Challenge. I decided to start with bloggers WAY dow the list figuring they wouldn’t get as many visits. I pay attention to my dreams, years ago even taking several workshops about them a Christian group in Chicago offered. Inviting you to TEA today-part of my theme of hotels and inns this year. Hope you have time and interest.

  13. I swear I've had all of these at one time or another. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

  15. I've definitely had flying dreams and dreams about being late. Being unprepared for an exam made me think of a dream I occasionally have where it's opening night of a play and I don't know my lines (and I haven't acted since I was 11!).

  16. Oh great. I'm back to chasing buses and run-away babies:-)

  17. Finally! A dream I can remember having! Failing an exam, sitting an exam where I didn't know a single answer. Long after exams had vanished from ye olde life, of course.

  18. What if the out of control vehicle is being driven by your spouse, and it's out of control because he won't listen to sense? Never mind, i probably don't want to know!

  19. I guess I am not the norm...I've never had any of these.

The strangest dream I ever had was my senior year in high school. Class trip on a yacht...not true...and we met another yacht that had each of us on it!!! Never figured that one out. Doppelganger class trip I guess.

I've always been interested in dreams. My grandmother was a healer and a midwife, my mother "knew" things, I sense things...more with animals and places than with people. They all had the standard, Dream of a birth there will be a death and vice versa. Being raised by them, nothing is very surprising. It was an amazing upbringing.

    Thank you for reminding me.

  20. I've had several dreams over the years where my teeth fell out. Those never fail to unsettle me more than most other dreams!

  21. My most common dream is of zombies chasing me, usually catching me, that's when I wake up. I HATE zombies! LOL

  22. Top Ten what a great idea for T - I've never had the quarantine dream but have experienced all the others... by far the teeth falling out was the worst and recurrent in my 20's...I used to also dream of getting lost on my way to work a lot too, there was a couple of recurring chasing ones when I was a teen too... Mum and I used to have the same dream of me being chased. I dream most often of her now .. I have always enjoyed dream interpretation, I'm off to check out more of your posts.

  23. I used to fly in my dreams much more when I was younger. I miss that! I also have a recurring dream where I'm back in school and can't remember the combination to my locker, or where exactly my classes are in the unfamiliar dream campus.

  24. Oh yes, I can relate to a few of these but I would add public washroom....I have that in spades

  25. Had the naked and falling dreams a few times, but mostly I don't remember dreams all that well. This is an interesting series, though.
