August 2020 IWSG

Hello everyone and as always thanks for stopping by. These are the co-hosts for July 2020’s Insecure Writers Support Group brought to you by Susan Baury Rouchard, Nancy Gideon, Jennifer Lane, Jennifer Hawes, Chemist Ken, and Chrys Fey!

Be sure to stop by and give them some love!

August 5 Question Although I have written a short story collection, the form found me and not the other way around. Don't write short stories, novels or poems. Just write your truth and your stories will mold into the shapes they need to be." Have you ever written a piece that became a form, or even a genre, you hadn't planned on writing in? Or do you choose a form/genre in advance?

I simply write. My books fall under Speculative Fiction, a broad category of fiction encompassing genres with certain elements that do not exist in the real world, often in the context of supernatural, futuristic or other imaginative themes.

I choose nothing in advance. I simply write. My brain is wired to see the world as a place where science and the supernatural meet. They co-exist in harmony.

Sure, our world looks chaotic.

And it is.

But looking at Einstein’s famous equation E=MC2 we see energy is equal to mass times the speed of light squared. They are equal to each other.

This means some angelic and fallen angelic beings have the authority to switch from a spirit being (energy) to a physical body (mass) we can measure with our five senses, like a human, animal or a grotesque form meant to terrify children and adults alike. Then they can go back to their energy form in less than a blink of an eye.

So that’s my world. And yours. Whether you believe it or not this is the world we live in. It would explain a lot of things we see on the news every day.

Question Do you believe there is more to our lives than what we can measure with our five senses?

IWSG July 2020

Hello everyone and as always thanks for stopping by. These are the co-hosts for July 2020’s Insecure Writers Support Group brought to you by Jenni Enzor and his team of co-hosts: Beth Camp, Liesbet @ Roaming About, Tyrean Martinson and Sandra Cox.

Be sure to stop by their sites and give them some love for all their hard work! This during what has to be one of the craziest years in recent memory!

July 1 Question There have been many industry changes in the last decade, so what are some changes you would like to see happen in the next decade?

I see articles and videos about things like downloading and playing back dreams (fascinating or frightening depending on the individual being tested) and storing our thoughts while we lay in a cryogenic state, perhaps due to a disease waiting for science to discover a cure, only to upload them when science has discovered a way to bring us back. The exponential power of our latent untapped brain power waiting to be discovered could supersede that of technology doubling every 18 months.

As a writer, I would certainly look at using these super powers for good. But I would also use them for my personal use, and I would love to be able to think words, phrases and sentences and have them appear on my monitor. I mean, how cool would that be!!! I could make changes in an instant and save so much time writing and rewriting a story.

Of course, I’m sure I would still need my editor. For some unexplained reason I just don’t think tapping into our unused portions of our brains would be perfect.

With me, the shortfall I’m sure would be that I would still need an editor.

Question How are you planning to spend the 4th of July and the rest of the summer. I had plans to travel and see family but there are some who are at risk and I may have to put things off indefinitely.

2020 May IWSG

Hello everyone and as always thanks for stopping by. These are the co-hosts for February 2020’s Insecure Writers Support Group brought to you by Alex J. Cavanaugh and his team of co-hosts:

Be sure to stop by and show them some love!

May 6 question - Do you have any rituals that you use when you need help getting into the ZONE? Care to share?

Well, I rarely have these moments. I can usually write about anything. That’s not to say I don’t have writers’ block. But I rarely have a problem with that. I think a lot of writers and editors and musicians can relate we’re not necessarily extroverts.

That being said, I’ve adapted to be “In The Zone” at any given time. Often I cannot pick and choose my spots. I need to look for opportunities to write even if it’s a series of 15 - 60 blocks of writing time. At the end of the week I’ll add up the time I spent researching and writing and only then will it become recognizable that I accomplished something significant.

Question Do you look at what you are currently writing to feel good that you accomplished something or do you look at the overall picture to feel you reached a milestone?
