P is for Prophetic Dreams, Progressive Dreams and Places (setting)

Prophetic Dreams You see the future through your dream. Not every future dream is prophetic. It may or may not come to pass. If it does, that doesn’t necessarily make it prophetic. But you have to ask yourself, what are the chances of it coming to pass? If they are quite slim, you need to do a reality check and ask yourself, was that a prophetic dream?

Progressive Dreams These dreams can be classified as sequels and occur in part over a period of time. They generally focus on solving a problem or exploring approaches to a situation or even solution. For whatever reasons, these dreams occur fragmented over a period of time but can be pieced together like a jig-saw puzzle to make sense to the dream.

Places (setting) Jung and others have proposed the setting in which a dream takes places is the symbol of the person's state of being and life. It’s a map of how you see yourself. Large building might represent big endeavors. A setting in disarray might mean confusion or turmoil. There could be a street intersection or a fork in the road at a place you once lived as a child.

  1. I had a "prophetic" type dream that told me what was coming to attack my marriage in detail. I also, had a series of dreams a couple of years ago that gave me solutions to problems we were having at work after our server crashed and we lost 3 months of data.
    Interesting!

  2. Places as symbolism... Interesting. I'll have to think on that one.

  3. I once had three progressive dreams after unexpectedly losing my exceptionally awesome cat, Jader. In the first dream Jader was still alive. In the second dream Jader was ill. In the final dream Jader was gone, but lingered as a ghost to tell me it was okay. I think these dreams helped me work through the loss of my cat. I've never had any other progressive dreams.

  4. Most of the time, in my dreams, i don't know where i am when it takes place. Settings are rather nebulous. Maybe that has some meaning, too.

  5. The settings of my dreams are often very realistic and I remember them when I wake up. I'm often in a school, or large building. I credited that to being a teacher!

  6. Not sure if I have had any of them. I would totally love progressive dreams. Extra help to solve problems is always welcome!

  7. If so, I'm in trouble. I was with dead people last night, the place was filled with junk and there was no ladder to get out...

  8. I don't think I've had either of those first two. Either that, or I'm not good at putting dream puzzles together.

  10. My dreams are often strange or nightmarish, but if I put my mind to it, I can usually identify what triggered them.

  11. when I was a little kid, I dreamed I fell in front of the toilet and scraped my knees and put a hole in my pants. 2 Days later the exact thing happened. I'll never forget that but ...really? nothing amazing just ripped a hole in my pants at the knee. As for dreams where I am-they can often be dark and weird....but then that's me, except for the dark part

  12. My cousin lost a necklace my mum gave her at my wedding. She didn't tell my mum for fear of upsetting her but my mum had a dream that the necklace was inside a book - next time she saw my cousin she mentioned this. My cousin ran upstairs and shook all her books and out dropped the necklace... I can never recall my dreams, sadly!

  13. I had a friend who was notorious for prophetic dreams which came true. She once dreamed of me with my throat cut behind a sofa on a white carpet. I have never had a white carpet since and I used to love the idea of a white carpet too.

  14. I have heard of the last kind, the setting. I had my dreams read by a couple of friends who know how to do it, and the setting was alwasy very important in the deciphering of the dream.

  15. I do have progressive but so far never prophetic dreams. I suppose working things out in increments is preferable to not being able to do anything about a premonition;-)

  17. I've had a few prophetic dreams, and possibly some progressive? I would have to think hard about it to remember. I'm sure Recurring dreams are coming up, because I know I've had those. :)

I've had a lot of dreams with childhood settings. Very nostalgic.
