J is for Jacob's Ladder

Jacob’s Ladder In the book of Genesis this is a stairway to heaven that the biblical Patriarch Jacob dreamt about when he was running from his brother Esau, and angels ascended and descended the ladder. The purpose is believed to have identified Jacob with the obligations and inheritance of the ethnic people chosen by God.

Jacob's Ladder In Dreams represents a two-way path between heaven and earth. It’s your connection between your spiritual and physical side.

I used Jacob’s Ladder toward the end of an epic battle of my Breakthrough series where science meets the supernatural:

Chase couldn’t take his eyes off what he knew was an angelic being. Now there was someone who had been in one mean and nasty fight. He could really take a punch.

Chase didn’t think a being so resplendent could look any worse. The three angels looked upward as another portal opened. A ladder dropped. Smaller but no less amazing creatures ascended and descended. They helped the three mighty beings scale the rungs upward, and as that portal closed shut, one more earthquake shook the region.

Honorable Mention Jesus, Jail, and Jewelry

Tomorrow K is for Knowing (intuitive dreams)
Okay, So It's A Movie Not A Book

Question Have you borrowed something from a dream (yours or someone else’s) and used it in your books?

I is for Interpretations of Dreams

Interpretations of Dreams I hear and read a lot about interpretation of dreams. But let’s be clear, not every dream needs interpreting. Dreams can originate from that monster grande burrito with el-scorcho sauce you ate before going to bed. Little or no interpretation required.

Dreams can simply be the result of your brain sorting through the day’s events or things you are going through. Some interpretation may be required. Then there are dreams that come from a higher source. For me, that higher source is God. Interpretation definitely required (Except for Knowing or Intuitive Dreams which is Tuesday's post)

Muy Importante Specific things in dreams like colors and setting can be relevant to a person’s culture, religion, heritage or other personal beliefs which could be very much different than your own.
A Different Spin I do not have the time here to go into interpretation. But I did have an epiphany while writing this post. Sometimes things in your dream that could use a good ol’ fashioned interpretation can be meant for the person doing the interpreting to understand, then explain what it means to you.

The colors and setting is something they know what it means. What I’m saying is the dream is dreamt in the way the interpreter can make sense of, then turn it around and explain it to you.

Sure, there are wise people who have above-average insight when it comes to dreams and can do a pretty good job at interpreting some of the stuff in some dreams.

However I have met a handful of people, just a few, that have this gift in a most powerful way. State your dream to them in thirty seconds or less, and they can tell you exactly what it means. They do this consistently with incredible mind-boggling accuracy.

Honorable Mention Illness or Death, Illumination, and Imprisonment

Tomorrow J is for Jacob’s Ladder

Question Do you, or have you sought someone or used Google, to help interpret a dream?

H is for Healing Dreams

Healing Dreams are not necessarily a time when a person is healed from a mental or physical ailment. It could be. Hey, there’s a lot about our universe that we just don’t know about.

But generally speaking a healing dream will alert you to avoid doing certain things that can get you sick or to do something to get better. Some say these dreams are prophetic in nature because they originate from a higher source that what we could understand at the time we dream them.

Me, I believe God still does this today. Dreams are not just for old guys with beards running through the desert eating locusts.

Heights See my previous post F is for Falling.

Haunted House See my previous post A is for Abandoned House

Honorable Mention Having to Pee (yes this is a real dream many people have), Heaven, and Hell

Tomorrow I is for Interpretations of Dreams

Question Do you think it’s possible to receive a dream such a healing dream that can only come from a higher source?

Dreams: G is for G

The Letter G Okay, I’m doing something a little more abstract today and focusing on the metaphysical, even though this term is not easily defined. Anyway, the letter G in a dream may represent an ending to something in your life that is going away and it cannot come back. Ever. EVER!!!

Alphabetically Speaking G is the seventh letter which signifies an end to something. The symbol for the letter G is similar to a circle. However, the circle is not and never will be complete or self-replicating. It abruptly stops and terminates to the center. Buh Bye.

Hey folks, this is great news! Breathe a big sigh of relief and move on with your lives! Don’t give people or circumstances you cannot control, well, control you any longer. You’re free to move about the cabin.

Seven is before the number eight. Eight represents a new beginning, resurrection or regeneration. So we have completion or even a forgiveness of trespasses that you might not be able to accomplish yourself, then the number eight is next and it’s a whole new beginning for you! Carry on to bigger and better things you deserve!

Groaner of the Day Why was 6 afraid? (Answer below)

Honorable Mention Galaxy, Garden and Green

Tomorrow's Post H is for House and Healing Dreams.

Question Not trying to get all metaphysical on you, but have you had dreams with prominent letters or numbers and wondered just what the heck do they mean?

Groaner Answer Because 7 ... 8 .... 9. Get it?

Dreams: F is for Falling and Flying

Falling I used to dream a lot that I was falling from ludicrous heights in all types if settings. It’s generally believed that if you fall without fear then you are going through challenging times but are not afraid and are overcoming great obstacles.

However, if you free fall and are scared $h!+!e$$ then you are anything but in control of the things you are going through. I’ve had far too many of the latter dream, but fortunately it’s been many years since I’ve had one.

Flying Flying is one of the Top Ten 10 Dreams people claim to have. To dream that you are flying signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited.

Unfortunately for me, my flying always turned into a terrifying free fall (see above Falling Dream).

Honorable Mention Farm, Farting (had to get that in) and Food.

Tomorrow G is for G.

Question Flying or falling? Do you or have you had these dreams?

Dreams: E is for Epic Dreams and IWSG

Epic Dreams also known as Great Dreams, Cosmic Dreams or Numinous Dreams. You know it if and when you have it. You wake up with a WOW! factor rarely experienced in life. An epic dream can produce such positive state that it can literally change your life! And you remember them in great detail well after you dream them. Still, it’s a good idea to write epic dreams down in the greatest of detail. You know, just in case an epic door in life opens up to you.

IWSG I’ve had my very first review from a reader who used Kindle Voice Mode. The review is mixed and I’m just happy someone took the time to read it and post a review. But this is new territory and now I'm narrowing down a search to have someone(s) professionally put together audio books for my novels.

Honorable Mention Earthquakes, Eating and Eyes.

Question Have you had an epic dream? Has anyone reviewed your book as an audio version?

Dreams: D is for Daydreams and Downloads

Daydreams Indulging in a reverie, or a state of dreamy meditation or fanciful musing while awake. Is daydreaming (lasting on average 14 seconds) a waste of time or the doorway to creativity? According to some psychologists, we spend up to half of our mental activity on daydreams. They help us realize our goals, and reveal our innermost hopes, desires and fears.

We think of daydreams as scatterbrained and unfocused, but one of the functions of daydreaming is to keep your life’s agenda in front of you; it reminds you of what’s coming up, it rehearses new situations, plans the future and scans past experiences so you can learn from them.’ Reference

Download This is exactly what you think it is; a download. You’re awake or asleep and an idea is downloaded to your brain.

My Breakthrough Trilogy came to me this way. It just happened. The entire concept and framework was downloaded to my brain. Strange, I know. But I knew the end from the beginning and all I needed to do was simply write it out. Yeah, downloads are strange but they do happen.

Honorable Mention Door, Darkness and Death (I have not experienced this in a dream. Although I’ve fallen from dramatic heights, I’ve never had that big splat).

Tomorrow E is for Epic Dreams

Question What do you daydream about? Have you experienced anything that resembles a download?
