Great Scott! It's Off To Spcaedock 19, Carl Sagan's Cosmos Reboot, and NASA For Kids

 

 Hi everyone. Glad most of us made it back from Alex Cavanaugh and JL Campbell's tour stops. We only lost nine people. That’s a whopping 97.2 percent success rate at bringing everyone back and in one piece and something to be proud of!
 

Great Scott! Today we fire up the flux capacitor with 1.21 gigawatts of power and head over to Mary Pax’s Spacedock 19 for what is one of my favorite topics: NASA for kids. C'mon, hop in. There's room for all of us!

What to Watch: Did you catch the reboot of the classic the Carl Sagan 'Cosmos' hosted by astrophysicist Neil de Grasse Tyson on Fox last Sunday? Well, 8.5 million viewers over 10 channels did. Fox is projecting that more than 40 million viewers worldwide will have seen the debut of the new series by week's end.

The reboot is put together by Carl Sagan's wife Ann druyan and Seth McFarlane of Family Guy fame. "Television is the ideal place for a relaunch of the Sagan 'Cosmos' series," Fordham University professor Paul Levinson, author of the 'New New Media' says. "Because it's the biggest screen in the home and is easily seen by the family or friends at the same time.

2014 Second Annual National Wormhole Week (or 2014 Wormfest): For 2014, the theme is to name one thing where science advances mankind, and one where the same technology with unforeseen consequences will go too far and set mankind back.

 

Of course, my topic will be Einstein-Rosen Bridges, or wormholes. Just think of the endless possibilities of transporting people safely through a wormhole from point A to point B (no time travel though). No more sitting on a congested freeway. No delayed flights or triple intrusive body searches from TSA.

 

The Downside:
 

* Illegal drugs could be transported across countries.

* Large sums of money and gold could be stolen from a bank vault. In and out without a trace.

* A nuclear device could appear in the Oval Office and blow everyone up.

*A nuclear device could be delivered to the ten largest cities in the US and detonated on the same day.

 

Let’s hope, should a breakthrough in wormholes ever happen, it will be destroyed and forgotten the same day.

 

Escalation Blog Tour: The theme for this event is Bringing Awareness of Science and Science Fiction to our Youth. But we can’t do it on an empty stomach. So we’ll have one epic potluck for the ages and gain some much needed energy for the trip.

 

First stop is Captain Ninja Alex Cavanaugh’s Blog. This will be a potluck event with a theme. Everyone brings a dish, but it has to have a pun to the name.

 

 I prefer science, sci-fi, book, movie, or music themed food if possible. But it will be open to any and all food puns. You leave the food you’re bringing in Alex’s comments. Example: I’m bringing Square Pies (Pi) and Interstellar Cookies. They’re out of this world.

 

The Wayback Machine: Yep, just as in years past, we will use clever ways to travel from my blog to the host’s blog. And today we go in style. Mr. Peabody allowed me to borrow his Wayback Machine. He owes me. For what? Well, let's just keep that silent for now. But I have pictures. Thank you, Mr. Peabody.

But Don’t Worry:    It’s safe. On my first Blog Tour for Breakthrough we returned 79.8 percent of passengers back alive and in one piece. For Escalation, we did much better at an 87.1 percent clip. This time I’m sure we can surpass the 90 percent milestone. And who knows, maybe we’ll find some of the missing participants from years past along the way. You've probably wondered about those bloggers who mysteriously stopped coming by your Website.

IWSG, One Million Dollars, I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

IWSG: The brainchild of Alex Cavanaugh. ThePurpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Here’s My Advice: When you are about to release the finished version of your blood sweat and tears, you need to make goals. And one of those goals is how much do you want to be paid for all your hard work and sacrifice. Well, how much?

That’s the big question.

For me, I like to think big. So I wrote myself two checks. One is for $100,000 for the first month. The second is for $900,000 for the rest of the first year. Total: $1,000,000.00

Hey, you have to dream and think big. Right? Go large. Supersize. Make it a double double with extra cheese. And don’t forget that cherry on top.
