September 2019 IWSG

Hello everyone and as always thanks for stopping by. These are the co-hosts for August 2019’s Insecure Writers Support Group brought to you by Alex J. Cavanaugh and his team of co-hosts: Gwen Gardner, Doreen McGettigan, Tyrean Martinson, Chemist Ken and Catherine Constantiner

Be sure to stop by their sites and give them some love for all their hard work this month!!!

September 4 Question If you could pick one place in the world to sit and write your next story, where would it be and why?

Easy. That would NOT be the setting of my next book which is around New York and Washington D.C. I would pick a tropical paradise, not during Spring Vacation and not in the intensely hot and humid months.

Blue skies. Crystal clear turquoise oceans. White sandy beaches. The freedom to get up out of my hammock for a quick refreshing dip the back to work. Might as well make the hammock my bed while I’m at it.

Might as well make it a healthy event. I don’t ‘day drink’ so I’d eat super dooper healthy and get plenty of exercise strolling on the beach and swimming with the tortoises, dolphins and manta rays. Evenings might be another story ...

Of course, my pasty white skin would need to adapt to the tropical sun. Hey, a guy can dream, like what I'm doing with this post, right?

Question Now that summer is over what have you jumped into like writing or editing simply outlining new stories?

  1. Yeah, I'd be fried like that guy in less than an hour. Maybe even faster.

  2. I don't tan either - I burn and blister. I do love the beach though. That's what umbrella's are for, right?

  3. Hi Stephen - we all need to careful of the sun ... but it's lovely to have a gentle colour. Good luck with wherever you decide to write - dreaming can be done all the time - cheers Hilary

  4. I usually feel inspired going to New York since my story takes place there. Then again, peace and quiet is usually helpful when trying to write.

  5. Mmmm.. another IWSG member who is opting for a tropical paradise, must join forces 😊would make quite a story...

  6. Hawaii is busiest during the winter, so aim for late spring, early fall. (My best friend lives there and the summer months are the lightest she says.)

  7. I'm used to the tropical sun so shouldn't have much of an issue that ways.

I'll probably be the person you'd see stuffing herself with fried stuff on the beach.

  8. I never stop writing. Summer or not. But it would be nice to have a change of scenery.

  9. If I managed to get myself into a hammock, I'm pretty sure I'd never leave it - too hard to get out of it again! :)

  10. I'd need to hide in the shade but I like the thought of being on those beaches!

  11. That's it all of us insecure writers need to get together and buy an island! September always fills me with anxiety because I'm not the best writer over the summer. I tend to write what I want, not what I need to get done. So here I am trying to meet September deadlines:0
    Happy writing

  12. Now that summer is over, I need to jump back into a half-finished first draft of a novel I've been ignoring for several months. Yikes. I'd rather jump into a pool. Or the ocean. With lots of sunscreen seeing as I'm a pasty person as well.

  13. Sounds like heaven...as long as the temp is precisely between 70-78 degrees F. ;)

  14. The beach sounds lovely, but I think I might just sleep in that hammock all day!

  15. Hi Stephen, the beach sounds super, but I wouldn't get any writing down, I would be just staring at the water. And as for the hammock, it would be a perfect place to snooze :)

  16. Swimming with the tortoises, dolphins and manta rays would be quite the experience.

  17. I would be too distracted by wanting to explore to be able to write somewhere tropic.

  18. Water is always refreshing and inspiring. I spend a few months at New Smyrna Beach during the winter and always come back with a whole renewed spirit. I love the water, waves, shore birds and sunshine. A laptop is a must to keep up with writing as well. Good choice.

  19. I'd like to share your writing spot through January and February. I'm still crawling through the WIP I started in June.

  20. Lake view, ocean view, oh yeah. Happy IWSG Day!

  21. Tropical sun is what I see outside my window each day here in Singapore, but sadly we have the one proper beach, and that's man-made. :)

  22. Just looking at the sea is very inspiring for some reason - if it's in a tropical clime, then all the better!

I've been outlining if you count barely intelligible scribbles on various random ideas that have been popping up. I need to dive deep back into completing the last part of my trilogy - determined to do it by the end of the year!

  23. Haha that sunburn pic hit a little too close to home - my pasty skin has been in that shape too many times to count. I don't know if I'd survive in the tropics but it sure does sound wonderful. :)
